SUBJECT: SUNI July 2025 Newsletter

Dear Neighbors,

July invites us to remember the courage it took to draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776, while we wrestle with how to stay true to those ideals.

If you’ve felt that unease, know you’re not alone.

Community can’t single-handedly heal a nation, but it can remind us what collaboration looks like up close. In that spirit, SUNI is leaning into gatherings that cost nothing yet offer more - shared space, shared stories, and shared goals.

Free moments of togetherness

  • SUNI Sipper at Crooked Stave - July 15, 6:30 PM

  • Yoga under the Historic Elitch Carousel Dome – July 9 (and Aug 13) · 6–7 PM. Sunset stretches for every body and ability.

  • Crosscurrents Festival – July 12 · 2–10 PM · Confluence Park
Music, food trucks, white-water fun, and a boost for the South Platte.

  • Tennyson Street Fair – July 19 · 11 AM–8 PM
Stroll 100+ local makers, live tunes, and farmers-market vibes.

  • Denver’s Back-to-School Fest – Aug 2 · 10 AM–2 PM · National Western Center. Free backpacks & supplies, health resources, live music, and all-ages games—your citywide kickoff to the new school year.

  • Zuni Park Movie Night – Aug 15 · Resource fair 6 PM, film 8 PM
Bring blankets, friends, and a sense of summer wonder.

Local businesses worth celebrating

  • Tails Trails n Treats – Bonded, insured dog-walking, adventure hikes, and pet-sitting—plus “barkuterie” boards for the truly pampered pup. Your canine’s new best friend lives right here in Northwest Denver.

  • Lily’s Baths & Biscuits – A woman-owned self-wash spa where elevated tubs, natural shampoos, and gourmet treats turn chore day into spa day. Ten washes and the eleventh is on the house.

When the national dialogue feels brittle, tending the local fabric matters more than ever. Showing up reaffirms that democracy starts on our own block.

Hope to see you out there,

Warmly,

The SUNI Board
