Wishing everyone a prosperous, peaceful, and joyful new year. 

Thank you to our neighbors who extended their blessings and generosity to our community over the holidays. You helped us deliver gifts to the Azltan Rec Center for its annual holiday giving party and our annual scholarship to North High School.

We’re excited to kick off 2025 with new opportunities and updates for our neighborhood. Mark your calendars for our BRUN/SUNI Sipper Mixer on Wednesday, January 22nd—details coming soon!

Use the fee lookup tool and report any major sidewalk damage online to help prioritize improvements.

You can also stay informed on upcoming RTD service changes, and make your voice heard through community initiatives.

Recycle Your Holiday Tree with Denver's Treecycle Program! December 26th – January 31st

Give your holiday tree a second life by turning it into mulch with Denver's Treecycle program! Drop off your tree—decorations, lights, and stands removed—at designated locations through January 31.Weekend and weekday drop sites are available across the city, and all trees will be turned into mulch for Denver residents to use in the spring. Prefer curbside pickup? Set your tree out on your large item collection day (just note it won't be recycled). 

Big Changes Coming to Denver’s Waste Collection Services in 2025

Starting January 2025, Denver’s solid waste collection schedule is getting an eco-friendly upgrade! Trash and compost will be collected weekly, recycling every two weeks, and large items every nine weeks. The changes aim to boost composting and recycling rates, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve customer service. Plus, Denver is rolling out free weekly compost service to all remaining neighborhoods—sign up by January 10 to receive your compost cart by March.

City Council Approves 2025 Budget with Key Investments

Denver's 2025 budget is finalized, and it includes important wins for our community!  City Council successfully advocated for increased funding for:

  • Rental assistance:  Helping vulnerable households avoid eviction.
  • Youth programs:  Supporting childcare, afterschool activities, and violence prevention.
  • Street safety:  Improving Safe Routes to School and making our streets safer for everyone.

Near Northwest Area Plan Moves to Implementation

The Near Northwest Area Plan, adopted in January 2024, sets a 20+ year vision for Chaffee Park, Sunnyside, Highland, and Jefferson Park. The first step is a rezoning effort to strengthen commercial areas and align future growth with community goals. Denver’s Sidewalk Fee Program: What You Need to Know

Denver's new Sidewalk Fee Program is here! This voter-approved initiative funds citywide sidewalk repairs and maintenance, with fees included in bi-annual stormwater bills. 

Use the fee lookup tool to confirm your 2025 sidewalk fee, and apply for an income-based rebate if eligible. Report major sidewalk damage through Denver’s Online Services Hub, where you can request an assessment and track progress on DOTI’s Sidewalk Repair Map. Long-term improvements are on the way with a comprehensive sidewalk master plan in development.

The Denver City Council is seeking candidates to fill a vacancy on the Civil Service Commission through May 2026, with the option to serve an additional term. RTD Service Updates and 2025 Budget News

Starting Sunday, January 19, RTD is rolling out service changes, including 15-minute frequency for the E and H lines and increased service on several bus routes like 24, 49, and 83D. Stay on top of the updates by signing up for service alerts! In other news, RTD’s 2025 budget has been approved, with $1.2 billion dedicated to boosting service, hiring for frontline positions, and continuing key maintenance projects. Big improvements are coming your way this year!
